Each portion of this process must be checked off by Mr. K
Each unit requires 3 weeks to complete (about 6-8 class periods)
At the end of each unit period, there will be two days for presentations.
You must make a presentation in order to pass the unit.
Guidelines for project units
Produce, with Mr. Kallage’s help, a list of state standards that you need to tackle
Locate at least 10 resources to help you research. Compile these as a bibliography
After sifting through your resources, generate 20 original research questions on your unit. At least 3 of these questions must be philosophic in nature. All of these questions must be approved by Mr. Kallage before you may proceed. These questions must be answered in some way through your work.
Each unit requires a written essay, research paper, or other form of output. You may work in connection with other teachers with this portion of your work.
You may select how you would like to present your history. The only criteria I am looking for are the following:
Does this student show mastery of the state standards? Is this student doing original research and work? Is this student adding critical and philosophical thinking to his or her work? Is this student’s written work moving in a progressively more positive direction? Are this student’s presentation skills improving over time? Is this student, over time, becoming an expert in his or her theme of studying US History? Is this student incorporating new vocabulary and concepts to his or her repertoire of knowledge? Is this student using primary resources to examine US History? Is there evidence of rigorous examination of primary sources in his or her work? 6.You should, over time, begin to develop a theme through which you are going to study history.
